A certificate of authenticity is the record of who signed a document electronically and when. There are three ways to get one.
How do I get the certificate for one signed document?
Open the signed document from the Documents page. The e-verify link is in the top right corner of the document — copy it into your browser to open the certificate.
How do I download documents with their certificates?
Open the Documents tab for the documents you want — client documents, or offer and application documents.
Select the documents and click Download.
Set Include e-signature certificates to Yes — that option defaults to No. If you download without changing it, the files come without certificates, which is the usual reason a certificate appears to be missing. Then click DOWNLOAD.
The certificate is added at the end of each document.
Can I email a document with its certificate?
Yes. When you attach documents to an email, the same Include e-signature certificates option appears — set it to Yes and the attached files carry their certificates.
This is usually the quickest answer when somebody has asked you for proof of signature: you do not have to download the files first and attach them by hand.
Does changing a party's name affect a certificate?
No. Renaming a party on a deal does not change signatures that have already been collected. Documents signed before the change are unaffected, and the signature and its certificate stay exactly as they were at the time of signing.
A certificate always reflects the name the signer signed under. If you need a document to show the corrected name, the document has to be redone and signed again. The original signed copy and its certificate remain valid records of what was signed.
