This is for the listing or landlord agent on a lease, when Jointly asks you to connect a receiving account.
What is the Set up Receiving Account task, and why Stripe?
Jointly can deposit excess application fees from lease transactions straight into your bank account, and Stripe is how we pay you.
You set your application fee when you set up the listing, under Application Requirements. Screening costs $50, which covers the credit, criminal background and eviction reports. If you charge more than that, the difference is owed to you, and you get a Set up Receiving Account task on your listing page.
You only need to do this once.
How much of the application fee do I actually receive?
Your application fee, minus the $50 screening charge, minus a convenience fee on the balance.
You do not have to work it out. When you set your application fee, Jointly shows the Remaining Balance underneath it — that is the amount that will go to your receiving account.
When does the task appear?
Only when both of these are true:
You are charging an application fee higher than the $50 screening charge, so there is a balance to pay out, and
You have not already set up a receiving account.
If you are not charging more than that, there is nothing to pay out and the task will not appear. If you have already connected an account, you will not see it again.
When is the tenant charged?
You choose this when you set up the listing. Under When should the tenant be charged? you can pick:
After reviewing application, or
When tenant completes the application.
Either way the tenant authorises the payment as they complete the application, and you then have 7 days from that authorisation to process the application.
How do I get to my Stripe account?
Click your Profile icon › Manage Profile, then select Payments. That links you straight to Stripe.
This is also where you change your receiving account details later. The task does not come back once it is done, so do not go looking for it on a listing — make any later edits from your profile.
