What happens when you submit an offer to a listing agent

After you’ve submitted your offer to the listing agent, here’s a rundown of what you can expect to happen. Whether the listing agent has a Jointly account or not, they will still be notified of a new offer the same way.

After you submit an offer:

The listing agent will receive an email and text notification (if the agent already has an account with Jointly, they must have text notifications enabled) letting them know they’ve received a new offer on their listing. The message will include a link to view the offer along with your note if you chose to include one.

When the agent clicks on the offer link, they’ll be directed to the Terms tab where they can view a summary of your offer's key terms. The terms they see will be identical to what you see on your Terms tab. They'll also be able to view the PDF offer documents on the Contract tab.

The actions the listing agent can take will depend on whether or not they have a Jointly account.

If the listing agent has a Jointly account:

With an existing Jointly account, the listing agent will have the option to present the offer to their seller. They'll also be able to accept or reject the offer.

When the agent presents the offer to their seller, you’ll see the offer status update from "Submitted" to “Presented.” You'll also notice that the offer actions you can take change. Once the offer has been presented, you'll be able to rescind, clone, or mark the contract as executed. As the offer continues to progress, the offer status will update accordingly.

If the listing agent does not have a Jointly account:

Without a Jointly account, the listing agent will only have the ability to download the offer documents included on the Contract tab.

If they'd like to manage the offer using Jointly, they'll need to click the "Manage Offer" button and create a Jointly account.

Note: The listing agent does not need to create a Jointly account to view your offer. However, they will need to create an account in order to respond to the offer through the platform.
